Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized opposition leaders for disrupting Governor Anandiben Patel’s Assembly address, calling it disrespectful to constitutional authority and womanhood. Citing Sanatan traditions and Maharishi Ved Vyasa’s teachings, he stressed dignity, cultural values, and responsible conduct in democratic institutions.
During the recent Assembly proceedings, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath strongly criticized opposition leaders over the disruption that occurred during the address of Governor Anandiben Patel. He described the incident as not only an affront to the state’s constitutional authority but also a disregard for the dignity of womanhood.
Speaking during the discussion on the Governor’s address, the Chief Minister emphasized that such conduct does not align with India’s civilizational values and traditions.
The Chief Minister clarified that the Governor’s visit to the Assembly followed a pre-decided schedule and was not imposed unexpectedly. According to him, the agenda had already been discussed during party meetings, making the disruption unjustified.
He expressed disappointment at the behavior of the Leader of the Opposition, noting that seniority in age and public life carries a responsibility to uphold decorum. While maintaining a measured tone, he remarked that leadership demands example-setting conduct, especially within the Assembly, which represents the democratic will of the people.
Referring to India’s Sanatan traditions, the Chief Minister stated that respect for women — particularly elder women — is deeply embedded in the country’s cultural and spiritual ethos. He said that honoring women as embodiments of dignity and care has long been a guiding principle in Indian civilization.
He further observed that invoking cultural values in speeches must be matched by corresponding conduct. According to him, tradition is not merely rhetorical but must be reflected in actions, especially in public institutions.
The Chief Minister also referred to the teachings of Maharishi Ved Vyasa, one of the most revered sages in Indian history and the compiler of the Vedas. He quoted a well-known Sanskrit verse highlighting the incomparable role of a mother:
“There is no shelter like a mother, no support like a mother, no protector like a mother, and no one dearer than a mother.”
By invoking this philosophical perspective, he underlined that respect for motherhood and womanhood has been a cornerstone of Indian thought for thousands of years.
Upholding
Concluding his remarks, the Chief Minister emphasized that legislative forums must remain spaces of constructive debate rather than confrontation. He stated that ideological differences are natural in a democracy, but personal or institutional disrespect undermines public trust.
The episode, he said, serves as a reminder that constitutional positions deserve collective respect, regardless of political disagreements. Maintaining dignity in public life, he added, strengthens both democracy and cultural values.
