A heated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has now spiralled into a full-blown controversy off the field. While CSK have reportedly approached the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the playing of the viral Dosa Idli track and alleged comments during the match, the fallout didn't stop there.
As the complaint made headlines, RCB fans quickly shifted the spotlight - bringing back an old Instagram post by Tushar Deshpande from 2024, reigniting past tensions and adding a fresh layer to an already explosive rivalry.

The issue, however, didn't stop at just the music. CSK managing director Kasi Viswanathan addressed the situation, pointing out that the atmosphere at the stadium crossed a line. "The DJs are usually around to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was different. Certain comments were made against our players. Considering it, we have written to the BCCI to have a look into it."
His remarks suggest that the franchise's concern extends beyond fan banter, hinting at a broader discomfort with how opposition players were treated during the match. A top IPL official has since confirmed that the governing council is now looking into the matter.
The controversial track, originally composed by musician Gana Appu, isn't new to the rivalry. Over time, it has become a recurring element in online fan wars between CSK and RCB supporters. Its use inside the stadium, however, appears to have struck a nerve this time.
Viswanathan also referenced a past incident involving the same song. "After that incident, there hasn't been any repeat of it. The DJ isn't supposed to make any comment on the opposition players. Moreover, we are fortunate to have a lovely fanbase that cheers us in numbers."
What was once limited to social media trolling has now entered official match environments - blurring the line between entertainment and provocation.
As the controversy gained traction, RCB fans were quick to fire back - this time digging into the past. Many pointed to a 2024 moment following RCB's crucial win over CSK in Bengaluru, where former CSK pacer Tushar Deshpande had shared a meme on Instagram.
The post featured Bengaluru's Cantonment Railway Station, with the word 'Cantonment' shortened to 'Cant' - a jab at RCB's long-standing struggle to secure an IPL title at the time. While the meme gained attention, Deshpande eventually deleted it, likely anticipating backlash.
Not just Tushar Deshpande, fans even brought up comments made by captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and former player Ambati Rayudu. Now, fans, especially on X (formerly known as Twitter) are questioning why these incidents didn't draw similar criticism, reigniting the debate from a different angle.
The backdrop to this controversy only adds more intensity. In 2025, RCB finally clinched their maiden IPL title, defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs - marking a turning point in their history. Meanwhile, CSK endured a difficult season, finishing at the bottom of the table.
This season, the gap appears to persist. Following the April 15 clash, RCB sit comfortably at the top of the standings with four wins from five matches, while CSK are struggling in the lower half with just two wins.

And yes, just like Jitesh shared his opinion, in 2024 when RCB were knocked out before the semi-finals, some CSK players also trolled RCB including Deepak , Tushar , and jadeja.
So did RCB file any complaint against them? If you don’t have the ability to tolerate it, then 🤐🤐

These guys are okay with Tushar Deshpande and Rayudu trolling RCB but have problems with a random DJ trolling CSK?
WTF is this hypocrisy??? https://t.co/LFwzPUoSG5
