Kim Kardashian gifted her children four Pomeranian puppies for Christmas, drawing criticism from PETA over breeder purchases.
Kim Kardashian’s Christmas surprise was cute, loud, and instantly divisive. On 25 December 2025, the SKIMS founder shared a glimpse of four tiny Pomeranian puppies curled up together on her sofa. The caption was simple. “Each kid got a puppy.” Within minutes, the story jumped from wholesome to heated. Animal rights group PETA criticised the move, arguing that buying from breeders, especially for matching pets, shifts attention away from shelters struggling with overcrowding.
PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk expressed disappointment, saying Kim missed a chance to support shelter adoption. The call-out, meant to spark reflection, instead triggered a wave of debate, with most fans defending the puppies’ new lives of comfort.
Kim’s children North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm each received their own Pomeranian puppy this year. The pups, small and fluffy, came in different shades, two dark, one cream, one sable. The family already owns Pomeranians, including a fan-known pet named Sushi. The new dogs looked calm, clean, and deeply at home in Kim’s stories. But PETA quickly questioned the message it sends.
Their argument was about impact, not aesthetics. One user online said, “Not every gift needs a statement, sometimes a puppy is just a puppy.” Others agreed that intent matters, and Kim’s intent was family joy, not messaging.
In a statement shared with PEOPLE, Ingrid Newkirk said puppies are not toys and suggested the family could help shelters by funding events or volunteering. The words were sharp, emotional, and carried urgency. But many felt the angle was misplaced. One fan wrote, “PETA shows up only to scold stars, not to fix systems.” Another said, “Acting like this is the main shelter crisis cause is wild.”
The criticism didn’t ask for harm to the dogs, but it assumed privilege cancels responsibility. Fans argued that comfort is not cruelty, and outrage alone isn’t progress.
Most reactions leaned protective, playful, and sarcastic. One user on X said, “Let’s be honest, those dogs probably have better healthcare than me, they’re going to be fine.” Another wrote, “Those puppies are about to live five-star lives, relax.” Others poked at PETA’s selective outrage. “Celebs can’t even give pets now?” one comment read. Even the minority criticism wasn’t about breeders alone, but about history.
A user said, “Do the deep dive, some Kardashian pets vanish online after weeks.” That line added doubt, but not dominance. The internet’s loudest verdict? These puppies won’t struggle for safety or stability.
