What happened to Camila Mendoza Olmos? Texas teen found dead near her home; officials reveal circumstances surrounding her tragic death

Amid the ongoing investigation into the 19-year-old teen who went missing on the morning of Wednesday, December 24, 2025, authorities and volunteers launched an extensive search in the San Antonio area. Following the long search, the body of the girl was discovered near her home in Texas, and officials have confirmed it is Camila Mendoza Olmos. But what happened to her? Let’s find out.

According to Newsweek, during a news conference on Tuesday, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar announced that they had found a body in a field late that afternoon, between 4:40 pm and 4:45 pm.

Although the body was immediately identified, authorities later confirmed through the medical examiner that it belonged to Camila Mendoza Olmos and determined both the cause and manner of her death.

In a statement released Wednesday, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office cited multiple reports and confirmed that the medical examiner had ruled her death a suicide. Sharing a statement on Facebook, the office revealed, “The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the decedent found yesterday during an open-field search in the 10000 block of FM 1560 as 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos.”

As per the same report, prior to confirming the identity of the body on Tuesday, investigators found no clear evidence of foul play and observed circumstances that did not immediately point to self-harm.

However, Sheriff Javier Salazar said that officials working alongside FBI agents discovered the body in tall grass near a landscaping business located just a short distance from Olmos’ home. Moreover, as per the officials, a firearm and a gun were recovered close to where Camila’s body was found.

Earlier this week, Camila Mendoza Olmos’ family in California described her disappearance as “heartbreaking” and completely out of character. They expressed deep concern, saying that the situation was “not like her,” highlighting the sudden and shocking nature of her absence.
