Shia LaBeouf begs 'Free Me' after arrest as video shows him getting beaten amid Mia Goth split

It’s been a chaotic 48 hours for actor Shia LaBeouf. After getting swept up in the madness of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, the Transformers star found himself on the wrong side of the law. Following reports that he was arrested and charged with battery after a wild street brawl, LaBeouf has finally broken his silence.

The actor, known for his intense roles and even more intense real-life moments, took to social media on Wednesday to acknowledge the situation. And honestly, it’s the kind of post that leaves you with more questions than answers.




So, what earth-shattering message did Shia have for his fans after spending time in the slammer? He hopped on X (the app formerly known as Twitter) and posted a simple, two-word message: “Free me."






So, why does he need to be "freed"? It all kicked off early Tuesday morning during Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Cops showed up around 12:45 a.m. because someone was causing trouble on Royal Street.

Here's what went down, according to the police. Shia was inside some business being loud and aggressive. A staff member kicked him out, and that's when it went a little out of hand.

Once he was outside, Shia allegedly started swinging his fists. He reportedly punched one guy multiple times. He walked away at first, but then he came back and allegedly hit the same guy again, plus punched another man in the nose.

In the now-viral video obtained by TMZ, Shia is not only seen fighting, but it also shows him losing badly. In the clip, he's shirtless and on the ground, with a bunch of guys holding him down. At one point, some dude stands over him and lands a couple punches to his face, yelling, "We're going to beat the f**k out of you, boy. Chill!" He stayed pinned down until the cops got there.

After it was all over, they took him to the hospital for some minor injuries, then booked him on two counts of simple battery. He got out on his own recognisance and has to show up in court on March 19.




Amidst all this arrest drama, a major personal bombshell dropped: his marriage is reportedly over.

Shia and actress Mia Goth (known for X and Pearl) have a seriously long history. They met on the set of Nymphomaniac: Vol. II in 2012, had an on-again, off-again romance, got married in Las Vegas in 2016, and even filed for divorce once before in 2018, only to get back together. They finally welcomed a daughter, Isabel, in 2022.




But according to sources who spoke to Page Six, the couple separated nearly a year ago. It’s unclear if they’ve filed for divorce yet, but insiders say Shia has since moved to New Orleans to be closer to family following the breakup . So, when he was arrested during Mardi Gras, he was technically flying solo in the Big Easy.




Of course, you can't talk about Shia's legal history without mentioning the serious allegations made by his ex-girlfriend, musician FKA twigs.

Back in December 2020, FKA twigs filed a lawsuit against LaBeouf alleging "relentless abuse" during their relationship, including sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress. She claimed he was abusive both physically and mentally.

The pair settled the lawsuit in July 2025. In a joint statement, they said, "While the details of the settlement will remain private, we wish each other personal happiness, professional success, and peace in the future".

So, with a settled lawsuit, a separated wife, and a new "Free me" battle cry, Shia LaBeouf’s life remains as unpredictable as ever. We'll just have to wait and see what happens in court next month.
