In a small village in East Medinipur, West Bengal, a young mother sits on her kitchen floor, chopping vegetables on a boti and talking about cinema. No studio lights. No fancy background. Just cracked walls, steel utensils and sharp thoughts. That woman is Pujarini Pradhan.

Her Instagram account @lifeofpujaa has crossed 540,000 followers as of February 2026, and her second page, Little Ordinary Things, has over 71,000. She is not selling glamour. She is sharing her mind. And the internet is listening.

From village life to viral reels

Pujarini did not plan to become an influencer. She grew up in a modest home in rural Bengal. Like many girls in small towns, she was married young. Her studies were interrupted during the COVID pandemic. Life moved fast. Responsibilities came early.

Today she is a homemaker and a mother. She often says she is “only a daughter in law and a wife” inside her home. But online, she is something more. She films short videos in between daily chores. Hair tied in a loose bun. Saree tucked at the waist. A child sometimes playing nearby.

In one reel, she speaks about David Lynch and his strange cinematic worlds. In another, she discusses Khaled Hosseini’s A Thousand Splendid Suns and the silent suffering of women. Sometimes she reflects on patriarchy. Sometimes on class and caste. Sometimes on the simple joy of watching films without over analysing them.

Her content feels real because it is real. There are no filters hiding the truth of her surroundings. The chipped walls and village sounds remain part of the frame. That honesty has become her biggest strength.

Pujarini Pradhan's accent and language matter

Pujarini often switches to English while speaking about films and books. Her accent is proudly Bengali. She once explained that speaking in English protects her from local gossip. In many villages, women who make videos are judged quickly.

Instead of hiding, she found a way to continue. She chose her language carefully. She speaks slowly, clearly and with thought. Viewers say that makes her videos even more powerful.

At first, some people assumed she was uneducated because of her rural background. That assumption did not last long. Her analysis of cinema and society proved otherwise. She does not speak like a textbook critic. She speaks like someone who feels what she watches.

One user on X said, “In recent times, nobody has taught me more than Pujarini Pradhan. Her take on films and life is so nuanced.” Another wrote, “She said what most critics fail to see. Watch films not to understand but to feel.”

A story bigger than social media

What makes Pujarini different is not just her content. It is her backstory. She has openly spoken about growing up in a house with a leaking roof and constant struggles. She once said that a woman never truly owns a home. Before marriage, it is her parents’ house. After marriage, it is her in laws’ house.

Her dreams are simple. She wants to buy a small piece of land. Build a house. Save for her son’s future. Buy books and art. She reportedly earns around five thousand rupees a month from her content. It is not a fortune. But it gives her independence.

She has also called out how rural Bengal is often ignored. In one reel, she asked, “Don’t you think East Medinapur is in West Bengal?” It was a sharp comment aimed at those who treat Kolkata as the only cultural centre of the state. That line resonated deeply. Many from smaller towns felt seen.

Her rise has sparked emotional reactions online. On Reddit, a user wrote, “With that guileless personality and a feel good story, she is going to go places.” On Instagram, comments pour in daily. “You are such a superstar.” “More power to you.” “Your thoughts are so clear and honest.”

One user on X said, “She deserves a film made on her life.” Another added, “Authenticity and integrity with a great attitude. That is rare today.” Even mainstream platforms have started noticing her as part of a new wave of rural creators who are changing Instagram from within.
