Drishyam 3 release date: Here’s when Ajay Devgn’s thriller will hit theatres

Ajay Devgn is all set to reprise his iconic role as Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam 3, the much-anticipated third installment of the blockbuster thriller franchise. Following the massive success of the first two films, the upcoming chapter promises to delve deeper into the suspense and moral dilemmas that made the series a fan favourite. With anticipation running high, audiences are eager to know when the film will finally hit theatres.



Drishyam 3 is slated for a global theatrical release on October 2, with production in progress at multiple locations. The upcoming installment brings back key cast members Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Shriya Saran, joined by several other well-known actors.

Drishyam is a widely acclaimed Hindi-language crime thriller franchise adapted from Jeethu Joseph’s 2013 Malayalam film of the same name. The Hindi version debuted in 2015 under the direction of Nishikant Kamat, starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Shriya Saran, with music composed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The story follows Vijay Salgaonkar, a sharp-witted family man who relies on his intelligence and passion for cinema to shield his loved ones after they are caught in a crime. Both a critical and box-office success, the film spawned Drishyam 2 in 2022, which further explores Vijay’s ongoing struggle to protect his family amid increasing legal pressure.



Backed by Star Studios and produced by Panorama Studios, the film is directed by Abhishek Pathak and penned by Abhishek Pathak along with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. The project is produced by Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak.

In Drishyam, October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, plays an important role in Vijay Salgaonkar’s plan to protect his family. Ajay Devgn’s character lives a simple life with his wife and two daughters until they get caught up in the disappearance of Sam, the son of senior police officer Meera Deshmukh (Tabu).

To escape suspicion, Vijay creates a strong fake alibi around October 2, a national holiday that makes verification difficult. His daughter Anju claims the family travelled to Panaji for a satsang, ate pav bhaji, stayed overnight, and returned the next day, with bus tickets, movie stubs, and bills to support the story. This made the October 2 reference iconic and a favourite topic among fans online.
