Boxing promoter Frank Warren expressed doubts about Joshua’s future in the sport, citing concerns over his physical and mental wellbeing and questioning whether he will ever regain the desire to fight.
In a shocking revelation, following Anthony Joshua's fatal car accident in Nigeria, boxing promoter Frank Warren has suggested that Anthony's future in the sports industry could be in serious doubt following a devastating car accident. The tragic car incident claimed two lives and left Joshua hospitalised. Following this, fans have raised major concerns about his recovery and whether he will ever return to the ring. According to Mirror UK, Frank Warren is a veteran promoter who has worked with several world-renowned boxers, including the late Ricky Hatton and Anthony Joshua's rival Tyson Fury. On December 30, he told ITV News that he was uncertain whether AJ would still have the desire to return back to the ring after the accident.
Well, while responding to that, Frank expressed deep concern for Joshua's physical and mental wellbeing, saying it was a devastating time for everyone involved and he hopes that AJ had escaped serious physical harm. Not only that, but he was also not sure if AJ would still have the "appetite to fight".
"But mentally is another issue. I don't even know if he'll have the appetite to fight again or if he will fight again; that is something that only time will tell," he added.
On December 29, it was reported that Anthony Joshua had been involved in a serious car accident while travelling as a passenger on the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway in Nigeria. The vehicle collided with a stationary Sinotruck, resulting in a devastating outcome.
An official statement later confirmed that two of Joshua's close friends, Sina Ghami and Kevin “Lateef” Ayodele, lost their lives in the crash. Both were described as important members of Joshua’s team, and the family requested privacy as they mourn the tragic loss.
