What is Ozempic?

Ozempic, which contains the active ingredient semaglutide, is a prescription drug mainly used to treat type‑2 diabetes by regulating blood sugar and lowering the risk of heart and kidney problems. It works by mimicking a natural hormone (GLP‑1) that boosts insulin production, slows digestion, and reduces appetite, effects that can sometimes result in weight loss. Although widely discussed for its slimming impact, Ozempic is not officially approved for weight loss and should be used only under medical supervision due to potential side effects like nausea, pancreatitis, and thyroid-related issues.
