India’s Bandar Apna Dost earned ₹38 crore from AI videos, showing how low-effort content can go viral and generate massive revenue.
An Indian YouTube channel is rapidly defining the global content economy. Bandar Apna Dost, which produces low-effort, AI-generated videos, has emerged as the world’s most-viewed channel in the controversial category known as “AI slop,” earning an estimated ₹35–38 crore annually despite launching only months ago.
The rise of the channel highlights how artificial intelligence is transforming online video consumption, while raising serious concerns about content quality, platform regulation and the future of human creativity.
What is ‘
The term “AI slop” refers to mass-produced videos created almost entirely using artificial intelligence tools, with minimal human involvement. These videos are designed to maximise engagement metrics, such as clicks, watch time, and repeat views, over structured storytelling or originality. The videos utilise bright visuals, exaggerated characters, and fast-paced features, making the content easy to consume regardless of language or cultural context.
According to a recent global study by video-editing platform Kapwing, hundreds of YouTube channels now fall under this category.

Bandar Apna Dost’s surprising global success
Topping the list by a wide margin is Bandar Apna Dost, which has recorded more than 2.07 billion views and gained 2.76 million subscribers. The channel’s short animated videos feature a human-like rhesus monkey and a muscular, superhero-like character placed in exaggerated, often chaotic scenarios. The videos contain no dialogue, plot or moral message.

Technology and digital rights researcher Rohini Lakshane, speaking to The Guardian, said the channel’s appeal likely lies in its exaggerated visuals and hyper-masculine themes. The lack of a storyline makes the content universally accessible and highly shareable.
Why YouTube’s algorithm favours AI videos
Because AI videos are cheap, fast, and easy to scale, they can quickly take over recommendation feeds.
