Authorities are investigating reports surrounding the deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele after they were found dead inside a Brentwood home. Only limited details have emerged so far, and the news has sent shockwaves around the world.
The update follows the discovery of two bodies inside a Brentwood home owned by him on Sunday, December 14. According to NBCLA, the Los Angeles Fire Department said a man and a woman, believed to be approximately 78 and 68 years old, were found dead at the residence.
TMZ however confirmed that the two people were Rob and Michele themselves.
Authorities have not yet released an official cause of death, though TMZ, citing sources, reported that the couple had injuries described as “lacerations consistent with a knife.” Speculation has spread on social media, but no details have been confirmed.
Around 3:30 p.m., LAFD paramedics were reportedly called to the residence on Chadbourne Avenue. LAPD officers were subsequently dispatched for what was described as an “ambulance death investigation,” a term used when firefighters request police assistance following the discovery of a deceased individual.
