No Tolerance for Reservation Errors in Government Jobs, Warns CM Yogi
CM Yogi Adityanath has taken strict cognizance of reservation irregularities in the Lekhpal recruitment process, directing the Revenue Council to revise category-wise vacancy data. A corrected requisition will be sent to UPSSSC, ensuring full compliance with vertical and horizontal reservation norms and transparency in government recruitments.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken serious cognizance of reservation-related discrepancies in the recently issued Revenue Lekhpal recruitment advertisement and issued a stern warning to the Revenue Council. The Chief Minister made it unequivocally clear that any error, negligence, or arbitrariness in implementing reservation provisions will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Revised Requisition to Be Sent to UPSSSC Within a Week

Following the Chief Minister’s direct intervention, the Revenue Council has initiated a fresh review of category-wise vacancy data. A revised requisition is now being prepared and will be sent to the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) within a week to ensure that the recruitment process proceeds strictly in accordance with constitutional and legal reservation norms.

Strict Compliance with Vertical and Horizontal Reservation Mandatory

CM Yogi Adityanath emphasized that absolute compliance with both vertical and horizontal reservation provisions is not only a legal obligation but also a core principle of social justice. He issued a clear warning to all departments that any deviation from reservation rules in government recruitments will lead to fixed accountability and strict action against responsible officials.

No Compromise on Reservation in Government Recruitments

The Chief Minister categorically stated that reservation provisions must be followed letter and spirit in all government recruitment processes. He underlined that the state government will not accept any excuse or justification for discrepancies related to reservation, especially in recruitments directly impacting the future of youth.

Discrepancies Found in Advertisement for 7,994 Lekhpal Posts

It may be noted that an advertisement for 7,994 Revenue Lekhpal posts was issued on December 16, 2025. Subsequent scrutiny revealed clear inconsistencies in category-wise data received from various districts. These discrepancies raised serious concerns regarding the accurate application of reservation norms.

Revenue Council Re-Verifying Category-Wise Data

After the Chief Minister’s intervention, the Revenue Council has begun re-verification of working and vacant posts on a category-wise basis. This exercise aims to ensure that the revised requisition submitted to the commission is completely error-free, transparent, and legally compliant.

Revenue Council Responds to CM’s Directive

Revenue Council Secretary Kanchan Verma stated that, following the Chief Minister’s directions, the review of all vacancy data has been taken up on priority. She assured that once the revised requisition is sent, the Lekhpal recruitment process will proceed transparently, without controversy, and with full adherence to reservation provisions.

Strong Message to All Departments

The Uttar Pradesh government has made its position abundantly clear:

No tampering with reservation provisions will be allowed

Discrepancies will invite strict action

Transparency, accountability, and legality are non-negotiable in recruitment processes

This intervention sends a strong message across all departments that even the slightest laxity in reservation compliance will not be condoned.

A Precedent for Future Recruitments

The corrective action taken in the Lekhpal recruitment case is not limited to the present process alone. It sets a firm precedent for all future recruitments, reinforcing the government’s commitment to fair opportunity, social justice, and youth welfare.
