Under CM Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is accelerating inclusive rural development through the Prime Minister Adarsh Gram Yojana. Basic facilities are being provided in 12,492 Scheduled Caste–dominated villages, promoting social justice, improved living standards, and holistic growth by 2025–26.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is advancing with a firm resolve to ensure that development reaches every section of society. With a focus on inclusive growth, the state has intensified efforts to uplift Scheduled Caste–dominated villages by strengthening basic infrastructure and essential public facilities.
Aligned with the principle of Antyodaya—development of the last person—the government aims to eliminate disparities in rural areas and ensure dignified living conditions for historically marginalized communities.
Under the Prime Minister Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY), the state government has identified 12,492 villages where the Scheduled Caste population exceeds 40 percent. These villages are targeted for comprehensive development by 2025–26, with a minimum population benchmark of 500 residents to ensure meaningful and sustainable impact.
This initiative marks one of the most extensive efforts in Uttar Pradesh to promote social inclusion and rural empowerment at scale.
In the selected gram panchayats, a wide range of development works is being undertaken to improve daily living standards. These include:
Drinking water supply and sanitation facilities
Construction of toilets in schools and Anganwadi centres
Installation of solar lights and street lighting
Borewells and water pipeline extensions
Digital libraries and educational infrastructure
Power transformers and motor sheds
Development of cremation grounds
These interventions aim to create healthier, safer, and more self-reliant rural communities, while improving access to education and public services.
Providing details of implementation, Shri Shiv Prasad, Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh Scheduled Caste Finance and Development Corporation, stated that development works have been approved in 2,562 villages through the implementing agency UPSIDCO.
910 villages have already completed the planned works
Projects in the remaining villages are progressing rapidly
This steady pace reflects the government’s commitment to timely execution and visible outcomes.
To meet the scheme’s terminal deadline, the government has adopted a decentralised implementation approach. Gram panchayats have been empowered as implementing agencies, enabling:
Faster decision-making
Stronger local monitoring
Greater transparency and accountability
Community participation in development
This model ensures that development is need-based, locally supervised, and outcome-oriented.
The Prime Minister Adarsh Gram Yojana is not merely an infrastructure initiative; it represents a strategic move to integrate the Scheduled Caste community into the mainstream of development. By addressing long-standing gaps in basic amenities, the scheme promotes social dignity, equal opportunity, and economic empowerment.
The Yogi government’s approach underlines a broader vision where development is not confined to policy frameworks but is reflected in real, visible transformation on the ground. As villages gain access to essential facilities, the quality of life improves, enabling residents—especially youth and women—to participate actively in the state’s growth story.
This initiative stands as a significant milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s journey toward inclusive growth, social justice, and equitable development.
