Students from government schools in Sambhal achieved national recognition at IIT Bombay’s Techfest 2025 by excelling in advanced robotics competitions. Backed by the Yogi government’s STEM-focused education reforms, the achievement highlights rural talent, innovation, and inclusive quality education in Uttar Pradesh.
The impact of the Yogi Adityanath government’s education reforms and STEM-driven innovation policy is now visible on a national stage. Students from government-run council schools in Sambhal have achieved a milestone once considered exclusive to elite institutions by showcasing their talent at IIT Bombay’s Techfest 2025, one of Asia’s largest science and technology festivals.
This remarkable journey from rural classrooms to a premier global technology platform reflects a transformation in Uttar Pradesh’s education ecosystem, where talent is now being nurtured beyond geographical and economic boundaries.Trained by the Seva Nyaya Utthan Foundation, students from classes 4 to 9 participated in highly complex robotics competitions such as CosmoClench and Mesmerize at Techfest 2025. Competing directly against over 250 teams of B.Tech engineering students from across India, these young learners demonstrated exceptional technical skills, innovation, and problem-solving abilities.
Impressed by their performance, IIT Bombay honored the students with certificates of technical excellence, acknowledging their creativity and competence. Their success has firmly established that students from council schools can excel on par with peers from premier engineering institutions.Despite limited resources, the Sambhal students mastered advanced robotics concepts and successfully competed in challenging technical arenas. Their participation in national-level competitions has shattered stereotypes about government school education and rural talent.
This achievement highlights how structured STEM exposure, mentorship, and practical learning opportunities can unlock hidden potential among students from modest backgrounds. The success of these students reflects strong administrative backing and focused educational reforms under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership. Emphasis on STEM education, equal opportunities, and grassroots-level support has enabled rural students to reach prestigious national platforms.
Under the guidance of District Magistrate Dr. Rajendra Pensiya, a team of 11 meritorious students, including girls, differently-abled students, and those from economically weaker sections, traveled to Mumbai along with their teachers to represent Sambhal at Techfest 2025.According to Basic Education Officer Alka Sharma, these students had previously been recognized at IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur. Their latest success at IIT Bombay, with honors in two robotics competitions, marks a new chapter for Sambhal in the fields of education and technological innovation.
This consistent recognition across top IITs demonstrates the effectiveness of Uttar Pradesh’s education reforms in nurturing rural talent. The Sambhal achievement stands as a powerful example of how inclusive education policies, when combined with innovation-driven learning, can bridge the gap between rural and urban students. The Yogi government’s approach is redefining government schooling by focusing on skill-based education rather than rote learning.
