On Kisan Samman Diwas, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored farmers, distributed tractor keys, and inaugurated the Chaudhary Charan Singh Seed Park in Lucknow, highlighting ongoing efforts to support agriculture and enhance productivity in the state.
On the occasion of Kisan Samman Diwas, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recognized the contributions of farmers in Uttar Pradesh, distributing tractor keys under the Kisan Samridhi Yojna and inaugurating the plot allotment process of the Chaudhary Charan Singh Seed Park in Lucknow’s Atari area. The event also included tributes to former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh on his 123rd birth anniversary.
During the event, the Chief Minister emphasized the role of farmers in sustaining agricultural output, noting the symbolism of their hard work and dedication. He highlighted how initiatives such as Soil Health Cards, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, and improved seed-to-market facilities have aimed to enhance farmers’ access to resources and market stability.
The Chief Minister also detailed achievements in Uttar Pradesh’s agricultural sector, including increases in production for crops such as paddy, wheat, gram, mustard, bajra, and maize, alongside measures to reduce production costs. He cited sugarcane farmers in Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, and Bahraich as examples of high-yield practices, producing up to 1,000 quintals per hectare, and encouraged knowledge-sharing to adopt modern technologies.
New infrastructure projects were also highlighted, including 20 additional Krishi Vigyan Kendras in the last eight years, raising the total to 89, and the development of Centres of Excellence. The Chaudhary Charan Singh Seed Park and an advanced tissue culture lab in Barabanki are designed to provide timely access to high-quality seeds, potentially increasing production by up to 30 percent.
The event featured participation from Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, and other state ministers and legislators. The discussions focused on efforts to provide timely access to technology, quality seeds, and fertilizer, as well as promoting natural farming to mitigate health risks from chemical usage.
Financial support initiatives for farmers were also mentioned, including waivers for loans linked to private tubewells and reduced interest rates on cooperative loans. The Chief Minister underlined that government schemes are now more streamlined, aiming to offer greater security and support for the farming community across Uttar Pradesh.
