Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a national leader in Ayushman Bharat implementation under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. With over ₹2,200 crore in claim payments, faster grievance redressal, and increased access to critical illness treatment, the state has earned national recognition for healthcare excellence.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh continues to achieve major milestones in the healthcare sector. The state has once again emerged as a national leader in the effective implementation of the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). Uttar Pradesh has recorded exceptional progress in timely claim settlements, increased spending on critical illness treatments, and efficient grievance redressal. In recognition of this performance, the State Health Agency SACHIS was honoured at the National Grievance Workshop organized by the National Health Authority, Government of India.
SACHIS CEO Archana Verma stated that Ayushman Bharat is the world’s largest health insurance scheme, providing cashless medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh per family per year to eligible beneficiaries. In Uttar Pradesh, the scheme is not treated merely as a government program, but as a lifesaving health shield for economically weaker sections of society.
From July 2025 to date, Uttar Pradesh has disbursed nearly ₹2,200 crore to empanelled hospitals under the Ayushman scheme. In comparison, total payments during the 2024–25 financial year stood at around ₹1,300 crore. This nearly twofold increase reflects improved implementation and wider beneficiary coverage across the state.
Strict 30-Day Timeline Ensures Timely Payments to Hospitals
To ensure prompt reimbursement, the Yogi government allocated an additional ₹1,500 crore in the supplementary budget. Clear instructions have been issued to release payments for approved claims within 30 days, ensuring hospitals face no financial strain and patients receive uninterrupted treatment.
To streamline processes, SACHIS has strengthened its digital software systems and expanded its core operational team. This has significantly reduced the time required for claim verification and approval. The improved transparency and efficiency have benefited both patients and healthcare providers across the state.
Uttar Pradesh has also recorded remarkable growth in spending on specialized treatments such as cardiology, neurosurgery, oncology, urology, and plastic surgery.
In FY 2024–25, payments for these services totaled ₹894.1 crore.
In FY 2025–26 (so far), the amount has already risen to ₹1,370.2 crore.
This reflects increased access to advanced and expensive treatments for poor and middle-income families.
SACHIS ACEO Pooja Yadav highlighted a sharp rise in oncology-related treatments.
During FY 2025–26, payments for cancer treatment have reached ₹449.62 crore, compared to ₹285.43 crore during the same period last year. This growth reflects Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of making critical healthcare services accessible to all.
The state has also set an example in grievance handling.
Since January 2025, a total of 41,582 complaints and requests were received through the Ayushman portal. Of these, 41,458 grievances have been resolved in a timely and effective manner, demonstrating a highly responsive administrative system.
For this outstanding performance, State Health Agency SACHIS, Uttar Pradesh, was honoured at the National Grievance Workshop held on December 18, 2025. Representatives from 37 states and Union Territories participated in the event. Along with Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, and Chandigarh were also recognized for excellence.
