Veer Bal Diwas: CM Yogi Pays Tribute to Sikh Gurus’ Supreme Sacrifice

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to the Sikh Gurus on Veer Bal Diwas, honoring the supreme sacrifice of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Sahibzadas and Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He said sacrifice and renunciation shape history and inspire India’s youth.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that history is shaped only by those who embody sacrifice and renunciation, as he paid tribute to the supreme sacrifices of the Sikh Gurus during the Veer Bal Diwas programme in Lucknow. He described the legacy of the Sikh Gurus as an eternal source of inspiration for India’s moral strength, unity, and national consciousness.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a Kirtan Samagam organised at his official residence, 5 Kalidas Marg, to mark Veer Bal Diwas and the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The programme began with the Chief Minister bowing before the Guru Granth Sahib, followed by Shabad Path and devotional kirtan.
CM Yogi said that commemorating the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Sahibzadas—Baba Ajit Singh, Baba Jujhar Singh, Baba Zorawar Singh, and Baba Fateh Singh—as Veer Bal Diwas is a heartfelt tribute to their unparalleled courage and sacrifice for faith, nation, and humanity.
Reflecting on Sikh history, the Chief Minister said the lives of the Sikh Gurus represent a rare confluence of devotion, bravery, and service. He noted that Guru Nanak Dev Ji spread the message of truth and equality across India, while Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji laid down their lives to protect faith, human dignity, and righteousness.
He emphasized that the sacrifices of the Sikh Gurus continue to guide India’s journey of cultural pride, social harmony, and national progress.
The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister for granting national recognition to Veer Bal Diwas, saying the decision reflects the collective sentiments of the Sikh community across the country. He recalled that while commemorating the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, he had the privilege of announcing December 26 as Veer Bal Diwas.
He added that it is a matter of pride that Veer Bal Diwas is now observed across schools, colleges, and offices nationwide, ensuring that the stories of the Sahibzadas inspire future generations.
CM Yogi highlighted that the sacrifices of the Sahibzadas have been included in educational curricula to instill values of courage, selflessness, and patriotism among young minds. He said Veer Bal Diwas serves as a powerful reminder that youth empowerment must be rooted in moral strength and historical awareness.
Highlighting the Sikh tradition of langar, the Chief Minister said it stands as a timeless symbol of equality and social unity, transcending caste, creed, and religion. He noted that Guru Gobind Singh Ji worked tirelessly to unite society and promote collective welfare.Calling the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji a defining moment in India’s spiritual history, CM Yogi said the Guru’s sacrifice remains a shining example of standing firm for truth and freedom of belief, even in the face of extreme adversity.
He assured that the double-engine government would extend full support to all events commemorating this historic milestone.
During the programme, the Chief Minister honoured children who recited kirtan by presenting them with turbans and awards and released a booklet titled “Chhote Sahibzade.” The event concluded with the recitation of Anand Sahib and Ardaas, after which CM Yogi joined Ministers Swatantra Dev Singh, Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, and Aseem Arun in the langar, reaffirming the spirit of unity and humility.
