NFL star Stefon Diggs, co-parent with Cardi B, faces felony charges after former chef alleges assault during dispute over unpaid pay

NFL star Stefon Diggs is facing serious allegations after his former personal chef accused him of assault during a dispute over unpaid wages. The claims, now part of an active criminal case, stem from an alleged confrontation at Diggs’ Massachusetts home in early December.



Diggs is now facing serious legal trouble after his former personal chef accused him of slapping and trying to choke her during an argument about unpaid wages. According to police reports, the alleged incident happened on December 2 in Dedham, Massachusetts, when Diggs reportedly entered her bedroom and became physical. She told authorities he hit her in the face and wrapped an arm around her neck, making it hard for her to breathe before letting go. She later decided to press charges after initially hesitating because of his star status.




The accusations led to felony strangulation or suffocation charges along with misdemeanour assault and battery. These allegations are now part of an active criminal case that could see Diggs in court in early 2026.

According to police reports detailing the case, the woman accusing Stefon Diggs, currently playing for the New England Patriots, of assault was working as his private chef and was hired around July 2025 to cook for him throughout the NFL season. She told officers that the arrangement was supposed to include regular pay, originally agreed to be weekly, but she ended up being paid on a monthly schedule instead, and at the time of the alleged December 2 incident, she believed Diggs owed her at least one month’s pay.

The dispute over this unpaid salary is at the heart of the allegations. She says the two had been exchanging text messages about the money Diggs allegedly owed her before the confrontation happened.




After the alleged incident, she left Diggs’ home and stayed with a friend. Then, on December 9, she returned to his residence to collect her belongings. At that time, she reportedly continued communicating with Diggs about the unpaid wages and was told to speak with his assistant about payment. At one point, the assistant allegedly said she would be paid only if she signed a non-disclosure agreement, which she declined to do.

She ultimately went to the Dedham Police Department on December 16 to report what had happened and later chose to press charges. The police report captures her account of the alleged assault and her employment arrangement, but her name has not been released publicly.

Diggs and his legal team have denied all of the allegations. His attorney has described the accusations as unsubstantiated and tied to a financial dispute over pay, not physical violence. According to statements from his lawyer, the incident “did not occur” and was never properly investigated before charges were filed. The New England Patriots organisation has also indicated it is supporting Diggs while authorities work through the case.



This recent chef case isn’t the only controversy tied to Diggs in 2025. Earlier this year a male social media influencer accused him of sexual battery and other misconduct from a 2023 encounter, leading to legal back-and-forth with defamation lawsuits and counterclaims. That situation has not been resolved and has contributed to an ongoing cloud of public scrutiny.

On top of that, Diggs has dealt with paternity drama after a model filed a suit to establish he was the father of her child during the same period Cardi B announced she was pregnant with their baby together. Public interest in his personal life has remained high amid all of this.
