Millie Bobby Brown missed the Stranger Things finale watch party due to injury, while her costars watched the last episode together.
Millie Bobby Brown was notably absent once again from a major Stranger Things moment, as the cast gathered to watch the show’s final episode together in New York City. The 21-year-old actress did not attend the finale screening at the Paris Theatre on Friday, December 26, according to a source who spoke with PEOPLE.

Recovering at home after a shoulder injury

A source revealed that Brown was “still home” recovering from a dislocated shoulder, an injury she first shared publicly earlier this month. Due to the injury, she had already missed several promotional events, including a scheduled in-person interview on Good Morning America on December 15.

Instead of attending GMA, Brown sent a video message explaining that she had “taken a fall” and showed her arm supported in a black sling. Despite missing the finale celebration, the source said that she watched the episode simultaneously with her castmates through a private viewing link.

Missed events add up

Brown’s absence from the finale watch party follows another missed appearance just days earlier. She was unable to attend an event at the Paley Museum in New York City on December 18, with a spokesperson later confirming her absence was due to a “recent injury.”

Although her multiple absences at events drew attention from fans, those close to the actress stressed that her health remained the priority during the final weeks of the show’s promotional run.

Castmates watch the end together

During her missed GMA appearance, her costar Noah Schnapp appeared live and shared emotional details about the cast’s plan to watch the final episode together. Schnapp, along with Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Sadie Sink, had planned a private group viewing.

Ahead of the show’s conclusion, Schnapp shared that the cast intended to rent out a theatre to experience the finale together. “Once you watch that, it’s done,” he said at the time. “That’s the last episode we’re ever gonna watch together.”

An emotional goodbye

Schnapp later told PEOPLE that reading the finale script was already overwhelming, and watching it with music and editing would be even more emotional. Still, he added that the ending brings a sense of relief and closure, not just for the cast but also for fans.
