According to the Daily Mail, a Minnesota state senator has criticised actress and socialite Sara Foster for connecting the murder of Democratic lawmaker Melissa Hortman to the ongoing Somali fraud investigation.Earlier this year, Hortman and her husband, Mark, were tragically killed in their Brooklyn Park home by suspect Vance Luther Boelter, who, according to officials, had intended to target 45 liberal lawmakers and abortion providers.



In June 2025, Hortman sided with Republicans to repeal MinnesotaCare for about 40,000 undocumented adults, breaking a House tie to avert a government shutdown.As per reports, Boelter's target list includes various Democratic lawmakers, especially those linked to the healthcare vote.



As per the Daily Mail, a Minnesota state senator has condemned actress Sara Foster for suggesting a link between the murder of Democratic lawmaker Melissa Hortman and the ongoing Somali fraud investigation.Foster’s claims have sparked controversy amid the FBI’s continuing probe into alleged financial misconduct at a Minnesota daycare, with footage of the empty facility and a misspelt sign fuelling outrage and accusations of government negligence.

The 44-year-old daughter of Canadian record producer David Foster took to X (formerly called Twitter) on Saturday and suggested that Hortman's murder may be linked to the ongoing investigation of alleged fraud in Minnesota."So are we just planning on pretending like her murder isn’t connected to the multi-billion fraud scandal just uncovered? Mmmmkay," she added.

As soon as the post surfaced on the social media, it quickly grabbed attention and sparked debate. One X (formerly called Twitter) user wrote, "Correct, and all the videos coming from the Somalian community threatening anybody who investigates them."

“We in Minnesota have known all along and no, nothing will be done about it,” another said.

One wrote, “Add it to the long list of things that no one will ever be held responsible for.”
