The Haryana Cabinet has approved the formation of Hansi as the state’s 23rd district, comprising 110 villages from Hansi and Narnaund constituencies, aimed at improving administrative efficiency and service delivery.
The Haryana Cabinet on Tuesday approved the creation of Hansi as a new district, making it the 23rd district of the state. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The proposal to form District Hansi was earlier examined and recommended by the State Re-organization Committee, chaired by Development and Panchayats Minister Krishan Lal Panwar, during its meeting held on December 9, 2025. The recommendation was subsequently approved by the Chief Minister.
The newly created district will include 110 villages drawn from the Hansi and Narnaund Assembly constituencies, which are currently part of Hisar district. Administratively, District Hansi will comprise two sub-divisions—Hansi and Narnaund—along with three tehsils: Hansi, Narnaund and Bass. It will also include one sub-tehsil, Kheri Jalab, and three development blocks—Hansi-1, Hansi-2 and Narnaund.
According to official details, the proposed district will cover an area of approximately 1,34,976 hectares and have an estimated population of about 5.41 lakh. With the addition of Hansi, the total number of districts in Haryana will rise to 23.
The proposal was forwarded to the state government by the Deputy Commissioner of Hisar through the Commissioner, Hisar Division. Officials indicated that the move is intended to improve access to citizen-centric services, strengthen administrative coordination, and support more efficient delivery of government services in the region.
